rawr. mrowr. hi. (:
I am a dreamer. I'm highly addicted to music and cuddling, and these are some of the thoughts in my head...

I stopped by Joe Paterno’s statue, today.

The candlelight vigil was really beautiful.

I want to extend a thanks to every one of our followers who attended. We clearly still are Penn State. Please continue to make us proud during the game tomorrow and throughout the rest of the weekend. Keep the victims in your prayers. Stay strong for yourself, each other, and our university.

This is what makes me proud to be a part of Penn State.

Molesting children = stupid.

Firing Joepa = stupid.

Rioting about firing Joepa = stupid.

Do something smart goddamn it.

I hope that you can all take the time to realize what this is about.

Take a moment of silence, and think about the poor kids who were abused. Forget about the scandal, forget about JoePa and Spanier. Just for a minute, think about these kids and their families and remember why we should be upset. We’re not asking you to not be upset, or outraged. But be upset for the right reason.

We still are Penn State.

Goodbye Joe

Penn State fired Joe Paterno tonight. I suppose none of us should be surprised that this was how it all ended, but that doesn’t mean that we cannot be shocked and saddened by the whole controversy. It’s tragic that a man with a position of power in the community like Mr. Sandusky used that position to take advantage of young children. It’s sad that Joe Paterno and the athletic director of the school did next to nothing to attempt to rectify this situation.

Paterno will forever be remembered for the way his career ended, but he will not be defined by it. Instead, he will be defined by his record. The only FBS coach to amass over 400 wins in his career. 24 Bowl victories in 37 appearances. He has won 2 national championships, and led 5 Penn State teams to be undefeated through the season. He is the only coach to have won the Rose, Orange, Sugar and Fiesta bowls at least once each. He was a man who towered above the game of college football. He was, in many ways larger than life.

And that is what is difficult about this whole situation. It is always tough to see someone who is given such a position of power and influence be so unceremoniously removed from that position, and to have so failed to carry out a moral imperative that comes with positions of that kind. It is undoubtable that Paterno had a profound and probably positive impact on the lives of hundreds of kids who went through his programs. And he will certainly be remembered for that. But he will also be remembered for his failure to intervene in the horrible crimes being perpetrated by a member of his coaching staff.

Nobody lives a  perfect life and it’s easy to lose sight of that. It always hurts when heros fail us because it reminds us that they’re only human.

^well written.
